THE INSTITUTE OF GEOECOLOGY OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (IGE RAS) was organized in 1996 on the basis of the Engineering-Geological and Geoecological Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Scientific-Engineering and Coordination Seismological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Integrated Laboratory of Hydrogeology and Nature-Saving Technologies (St. Petersburg).
IGE RAS is a team of highly qualified geologists: the institute employs 1 academician, 1 corresponding member, 10 doctors of sciences and 43 candidates of sciences.
The Institute conducts fundamental and applied research in the field of geoecology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, seismology, and also coordinates these studies within the framework of federal, general academic and municipal programs.
